Continuous learner – Lifelong learner – Never stop learning.

When you hear these phrases, what do they mean to you?

When I ask during coaching conversations with my clients, many individuals immediately respond that these phrases are associated with developing new skills or improving their knowledge. If I ask them to be more specific to what areas they are looking to improve or develop, they typically respond to their work or career. This is not surprising, as many people want to raise their performance level and achieve more in their careers.

What if you take a step back, look inward at your mindset and health, and consider this the place to begin your learner journey? Sometimes the best place to start from is within. A few individuals I have coached are already living this path, but for most, they have not stopped to look inward. As my coaching clients and I work together, this understanding of self and how it impacts their careers become more apparent, and we generally work on awareness to allow for
further growth.

There are many paths to start your self-awareness journey and many individual topics associated with self-awareness that can be explored. I do not believe there is a right or wrong direction in any of these topics, but we each need to find the ones that resonate with us. Use your preferred methods to become a continuous and lifelong learner about yourself and develop a stronger sense of control over your mind and health.

If you are unsure where to start, reach out to us at VEL Institute to connect and discuss. You will find we are all here working to continuously learn about ourselves, the leaders within us, our leaders around us, and from each other.
